An empty message list to show "No messages" text/image

When a message list is empty, it should show a text message and (ideally) an image to signify that the list is deliberately empty.

It could initially be something as simple as the app logo in the centre of the list view with the text "No messages".

Great idea! Sounds like you're talking about something often called an "empty state" in UX Desisn and I agree, there needs to be more considerations for empty states and other alternate states in Thunderbird Android.
