Allow to disable new message notification on a per folder basis

Please add an option to disable notifications for new mails on a per folder notifications.

I was not able to find a native way to disable notifications for certain mails that arrive in a specific folder (in this case after a filter moved them there, but I also did not find one for messages that the server would have moved there).

Currently the only somewhat similar option is to not sync a folder at all. However this only works when the server is moving messages into that folder but not if a rule is moving them in there. Also it would mean that also the counter indicating how many unread messages are in a specific folder would not get updated anymore. Which is not what I want.

An example use case would be if you're subscribed to a high volume mailing list (like e.g. the linux kernel mailing lists) and want to look into them, but not be notified for each and every single new message as they arrive.

I'd like to extend this request. I'm using multiple mail accounts and I'd like to disable new message notifications for selected accounts.

Use case / problem
I use Thunderbird’s built-in “Desktop notifications” (I don’t use “Use the system notification”).
Until earlier versions, only messages landing in each account’s Inbox triggered a desktop notification. Since updating to Thunderbird 140.2.1esr, I now get desktop notifications for all subfolders. For users with many filters and subfolders (like me), this produces a large number of popups and is distracting.

Request

• Provide folder-level controls for built-in desktop notifications (enable/disable per folder).

• Optionally, a switch to notify Inbox only (restore previous behavior).

Why

• Reduces notification noise for high-volume filtered folders while keeping priority folders visible.

Notes

• The add-on NTFNTF can control system notifications per folder, but system notifications show one popup per message and don’t fit my workflow. I specifically need Thunderbird’s built-in desktop notifications to be controllable per folder.

Environment
Windows 10 Pro 22H2; Thunderbird 140.2.1esr (32-bit); 5 accounts; ~50–100 folders.
