Problem:
As a researcher I have multiple PDFs always open. I prefer Firefox over Acrobat since its cleaner, works better and has tab groups. In Acrobat there is an option to display filenames instead of metadata titles as the tab titles.
Firefox currently displays both, metadata title first and file name last, separated with " - ".
With long titles the file name gets omitted, which should not be the case.
More context:
References are most of the time handled by the author and year, therefore a good workflow is to put those at the beginning of names of archived files.
However, sometimes there is still a case that the metadata title of the PDF is actually more indicative of what the PDF is. Therefore, there should be an option to set the used title for tabs individually, which Acrobat does not have.
To summarise:
My suggestion is to add, for example, to the right click context menu of tabs an option to choose whether the filename or the metadata title field is used as the displayed tab title, or that which is displayed first.
