It can be enabled in security prevent reditecting if enabled and you open example.com and it will want move you to somesite.com it will ask you if you want go on that site its usefull for spam protection and tracker possibly associated with that random website what wants open if will ne possible to prevent website open when just visited and not clicked on anything it will be best that will protect against spam and tracker while not damage user experience if enabled

Redirects are sadly also used for legit purpses, like authentication and DDOS protection.

But something like this https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/redirectblocker/ seems reasonable.
