I frequently have to copy the TEXT of a url/link, and currently I have to highlight the link, then use copy to get the text into the clipboard. It would be very useful, and I think simple to program, an additional choice to the right click menu on a url/link, the ability to just copy the text directly into the clipboard. Currently, there is a "copy link" but no "copy link text".

Hi, do you mean a button or menu item to copy text selected in the page?

Firefox has an optional cut/copy/paste button set available in the Customize panel that you can drag to the toolbar. More info on Customize: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/customize-firefox-controls-buttons-and-toolbars

Firefox also has Cut, Copy, and Paste on the right-click context menu depending on the context of the selection (for example, you can copy from non-editable areas, and you can use all three commands in editable areas).

Hello, this request was submitted more than a year ago. It was never solved and subsequently closed. This feature for Firefox on Android is a must. Needless to say, practically all the other browsers on Android that use Blink have this feature. Don't understand why it can't/won't be implemented under Gecko. Please advise. Thx.

Hello, what you say is true, but it doesn't reflect the issue. In order to copy the link text as it stands right now you need to select the text of the link. This cumbersome on desktop and a nightmare on mobile. What we're asking here is the ability to right click on the link (on desktop), and long press on the link (on mobile l) and have the resulting popup to include the option to copy the link text. That is all. Fire up Chrome or any browser based on Chrome's engine and you will see what I mean

There seems to be a misunderstanding with this issue. What we need is an option in the long press menu to copy the text of the link which one has has long pressed. Just as there is currently the option to copy the link, we need an additional one to copy the text of the link. I hope this ia clear now. Pls advise. Thx

Can you edit the name of this Discussion to "Add context menu item to copy link display text" or something like that to make it clearer what is needed.

Also, it would make sense to add it under the "Ideas" side of this site instead of Discussions.

Guessing you want to be able to copy "TITLE" instead of "https://website.com" from a hyperlink like below?

<a href="https://website.com">TITLE</a>

This might help you in the meantime on desktop - you can hold Alt to highlight with the mouse (then copy) a link's text.

Dunno if it's possible to copy a hyperlink's title on Android.
