Add Duck.ai to Firefox Chatbot Sidebar

Adding Duck.ai or DuckDuckGo Chats to the Chatbot Sidebar would allow users to use privacy respecting chatbots and quick model switches.

It also does not require a login, so saving cookies for the sidebar would not matter.

I've been using the DuckDuckGo search engine instead of Google's. I'm looking forward to adding Duck.ai to the Firefox sidebar.

+1 on this.  I upvoted the original comment but I don't see any official way to upvote the idea or vote for it.

I can/will say that I think the AI sidebar should be able to be configured to connect to any LLMGAI that exposes an API supporting a standard interface.

Yes, please add the AI as soon as possible; this is the future in all areas, and it is necessary to be competitive.

I would be more inclined to use it if it had duck.ai. I fear the hoover of information that ChatGPT is taking in with this.

Until it is (hopefully) implemented, here is a workaround to accomplish this "unofficially".

Open about:config

Locate browser.ml.chat.provider 
If browser.ml.chat.provider is not listed, select hugging chat as your AI first, then refresh the about:config menu.

Click 'edit' next to browser.ml.chat.provider and enter the Duck.ai URL. This will allow you to use Duck.ai in the sidebar.

Thank you @Jbyr - it's a reasonable workaround (and I will use it!) But doesn't negate the need for more official support. Sending text to the chatbot doesn't work correctly for instance.

FWIW I used https://duckduckgo.com/?q=DuckDuckGo+AI+Chat&ia=chat&duckai=1 as the url - I am not sure if there's a better one.

I used duck.ai in the url section and on my mac use the CTRL+X keyboard shortcut to enable the chat. May you may have to enable that but the URL part works.

The list of AI providers should be expandable by the user and duck.ai would be the one I would choose to use right now.
