Add custom fields in Password Manager

I think it would be helpful if it was possible to add custom fields (or a textarea for notes) to stored passwords to securely store additional information (like security questions, customer support pins, etc.)

Additionally it would be nice to be able to store and sync other credentials and information in Firefox, that don't link to websites, like (recovery-)keys for BitLocker/TrueCrypt/LUKS-LVM partitions, WiFi Passwords and Credit Cards. Of cause you won't have auto-fill, etc., but it wouldn't cause any harm to have more like a "Firefox secure wallet"...

I ended up switching to proton pass. It does secure notes, and does Mozilla Relay email services better than Mozilla. It's a paid service, but well worth it -- they have a good track record for committing to their new products, unlike Mozilla.

Maybe Mozilla is focusing on AI instead? Their loss.

@leishirsute: Thanks for your reply. I would even try to do it myself, if I just knew how. I guess that work on a security-related part of the browser is much more complicated than a simple add-on that adds some other features.

Password manager - additional information

For saved passwords in the password manager, it would be helpful to add a field for additional information.
There are websites where I have several accounts, for example, and several login details are saved here.
Example: on website xy.com I have an account for private purposes and one for my company. However, the user ID is a numerical code (e.g. customer number). In order to be able to recognise at first glance which login data is to be used, I would like to be able to add a keyword or a short description in the password manager, which is then displayed when selecting the login on the website and helps to use the correct access.

I am also looking for this feature. I really want to be able to store google backup codes, passwords to my user accounts on my phone and laptop, and other sensitive information which may not be a login to a website. Most importantly, I am looking for some place to store security questions and answers. These are required on every login to the VISA website.

That's a really good idea because i use the firefox password manager for many usecases.

I suggest to have a short "Description" (~30 chars) field which is also displayed in overview of passwords and a "Additional information" field (~1KB) which is capable to store extra encrypted data like recovery questions, codes, ...
Probably its a good idea to have some basic formatting (Markdown Headlines, Bullets, Fixed block/Verbatim) in the "Additional information" field.
