Hi! I’d like to suggest an improvement for the Firefox New Tab page.

Right now, shortcuts on the New Tab page can be automatically generated based on frequently visited websites. This can be useful for some users, but not everyone wants Firefox to automatically add random websites from browsing history.

It would be great to have an option like:

“Show only custom shortcuts”
or
“Disable automatically generated shortcuts”

When this option is enabled, Firefox would only show shortcuts that the user manually added or pinned. It should not automatically fill empty shortcut slots with frequently visited websites.

Why this would be useful:

Many users want their New Tab page to be clean, predictable, and fully controlled. For example, I may want to keep only my most important websites there, without Firefox adding sites just because I visited them often.

Expected behavior:
Users can manually add and pin shortcuts;
Firefox does not automatically add frequently visited websites;
Empty shortcut slots stay empty unless the user adds something manually;
The New Tab page becomes more customizable and privacy-friendly

This would make Firefox Home feel cleaner and give users more control over their browser experience.

I don't have this issue. If you go to the Setting/Home page and deselect (uncheck)  Recent Activity that might take care of the issue. At least for me it keeps random web links for show up on my NewTab page.Clipboard_06-07-2026_01.jpg
