I like the Firefox pdf viewer, but sometimes I need to reopen a pdf in another program for further processing. Currently, if I set the pdf viewer to be Firefox, there seems to be no way to reopen the pdf in an external application, short of saving the pdf and then navigating to it in a file browser.

I think it would be great if there's a button that open the application picker (from a Firefox which is showing the pdf).

@tohikoin which cases you need to open a PDF in an external viewer? We'd like to make our PDF Viewer capable enough that you won't need to do that at all.

@marc, although I really like the firefox pdf viewer, I don't expect it to cover all my needs. I currently use:

- Evince, when I am reading papers because it has a feature to preview a page that a link would go to (if it's in the same document).

- Xournal, when I want to annotate the pdf beyond the basics that firefox gives (Xournal also more ergonomic annotation with a stylus).

- A custom printing software that I have to connect to a work printer.

I can resolve all of these cases by saving the pdf and openning in a file browser, but being able to open the application picker for pdf's would add tremendous utility.

I really like the current pdf viewer of Firefox, but I don't expect it to handle all my use-cases anytime soon. I currently use:
- Evince when reading papers, because it has a feature to preview links that go to another page in the same paper.
- Xournal, when annotating pdf's beyond the basics that Firefox viewer provides. I also found it easier to edit with using a stylus.
- A custom printing software that I have to use for a network printers in my work.

I can resolve all of these by downloading the file and using the file browser. But a button to open the application picker would add tremendous utility to the firefox pdf viewer.

A similar option to open the application picker could also be useful in the downloads list for other types of files.
