Hi. I've just see the relnotes that vertical tabs and AI sidebar are generally available, and turned on the feature. Pretty cool so far. Here's one thing I want; place sidebar on one side, and tab strip on the other side. Right now tab strip and sidebar are both tied to one side and I cannot separate those.

Vertical tabs / sidebar - expand on mouseover

Vertical tabs/the sidebar would benefit from an 'auto-hide' or 'expand on mouseover' feature. Similar to how it behaves in Edge, I would like to be able to expand the sidebar for vertical tabs on mouseover when I want to review my open tabs. This would allow users to avoid manually toggling the expanded view and will improve the experience when tab groups are introduced.

...onsistently for everyone. For these reasons, in 2026, we will focus on improving the updated sidebar to provide many of the conveniences of the older version, then transition everyone to the updated version. Here’s what to expect: Starting with the late Firefox Nightly 148, we have turned on the new sidebar by default for Nightly users. The new default will remain Nightly-only for a few releases to allow us to implement planned improvements, existing community requests, and collect additional f...

Hi folks! The updated sidebar and vertical tabs are now rolled out and available to all release users on Firefox 136. How to enable it Go to Firefox Settings → General → Browser Layout and check Show sidebar. Then, choose the settings icon in the sidebar to customize which tools appear. You can turn on vertical tabs from sidebar settings or simply right-click on the Firefox toolbar or tab strip and select Turn on Vertical Tabs. Firefox Settings: Browser layout Customize sidebar...

Hi folks,  Over the next couple of months, we will be testing an updated sidebar, its tools, and vertical tabs in the release version of Firefox (remember, a while back, we asked you to try it out in Nightly 131, and we appreciated your feedback and encouragement in this Connect thread). If you are using the release version, you might get early access to these features and get a nudge to try them out. Only a portion of users in Firefox releases 133 and 134 will see this experience, h...

Better sidebar

Hello! The new sidebar feature in Firefox is great, but I have some ideas to improve it: - Make it thinner/compact or resizable. In my opinion it takes a lot of space for just a few icons. I believe resizing it to half its current size wouldn't cause any issues. On the other hand, if some users want a thicker sidebar, then that's fine, so maybe add an option to select wide/medium/thin and compact/normal/comfortable. - Make it transparent or adapt its color to the current webpage (see a...

In my opinion, if you were able to put social networks in the sidebar as a work, you could get a lot of audiences, because in any case firefox is already very comfortable and with this implementation it would become truly perfect

resize sidebar

after last update, I can't resize my left sidebar.  When I hover over the dividing line, the arrow that allows directional dragging now doesn't appear.  Not sure if this is a gmail problem or a firefox problem.  Very irritating--can't read a whole line of text without moving screen.

Add Duck.ai to Firefox Chatbot Sidebar

Adding Duck.ai or DuckDuckGo Chats to the Chatbot Sidebar would allow users to use privacy respecting chatbots and quick model switches. It also does not require a login, so saving cookies for the sidebar would not matter.
