Today, on Yahoo news, the button to go to comments still exists, but I click on it and it goes to a blank space. User comments are not populated. It still works fine on Edge.
Any clue if this is a problem with a Firefox update or coming from Yahoo?

Hi All, this could be a Tracking Protection block if Yahoo hosts its comments with a third party that does the same for multiple sites (the third party can engage in cross-site tracking). As a test, turn off Tracking Protection on Yahoo! News. Obviously not ideal because you'll probably see even more ads, but please test and see whether that allows comments to load. To do that, click the shield icon at the left end of the address bar (next to the lock) and click the slider switch to turn off tracking protection. Any difference?

The same thing is happening to me today.
22-02-2025 02:02 PM
Funny thing this doesn't happen using Chrome viewing Yahoo new feed.
26-01-2026 08:15 AM
It's been happening to me for the last several days and I use Chrome. Any suggestions as to how to fix this using Chrome?
28-01-2026 12:07 PM
I've tried it in Firefox, Chrome, and Brave. I can see and make comments on most articles other than political articles. Some "entertainment" articles won't let me see comments, but not all. I tried the tracking protection "fix" explained in this thread, but it didn't make any difference. A few days before this started, you could see and comment on all articles, but you couldn't use GIFs. Now you can use GIFs on the articles you can actually comment on. I don't know what's going on, but it would seem that Yahoo is making changes to the comment format, or maybe blocking comments on political articles.
28-01-2026 12:13 PM
Although I do see that there are numbers in the comment tab, so some folks are able to see and comment on these articles. (Even articles published today). Maybe yahoo is only blocking certain folks from making political comments.

Yes, that worked. Thank you.
15-05-2024 07:31 AM
Thank you for testing that. You might be able to make a more precise exception just for the commenting site. This thread has an example of how people were setting that up for Disqus, but I don't know whether Yahoo uses Disqus:

tried your solution but it didn't work for me. wish it had.
19-08-2024 06:58 AM
didn't work for me either.
15-05-2024 07:57 AM
Wait! That only worked once. However, on the page it wouldn't let me enter a comment, "failed to publish." When I closed the browser and opened a new one, it shows the shield with a line across it, indicating protection is off, but the comments only show up half the time and I still can't post.
Any additional things to try?

I looked at a new story, and the comments are in a frame on this URL:
https://openweb.jac.yahoosandbox.com/2.0.0/safeframe.html
If I click "Log in" it takes me to a Yahoo! login page. So it seems I can't test without diving in more deeply than I have time for at the moment.
03-12-2025 09:40 PM
I'm not even getting the log into comments. It's just blank screen.
03-12-2025 09:37 PM
It didn't work for me.
04-12-2025 04:29 PM
try increasing or decreasing the screen size ctrl - or ctrl +. When I do this, I often get a place to enter a comment but the 'send' button to enter the comment is covered by an ad. At this point, once I have typed my comment, if I click on the notifications or setup image, part of the 'send' button becomes visible and I can click on the edge of it to send it. It is almost as if someone is trying to prevent me from commenting on certain articles as this block only happens on certain articles, mostly political one's. Apparently, I can comment to my hearts content on useless fashion, sports, or lifestyle articles.
15-05-2024 07:28 AM
I guess Yahoo changes how they managed the pages. Thanks for that solution.

No comments loading for me
10-06-2024 09:28 AM
I have this same problem on Safari. However, I have recently found a workaround. If I get a "View Comments" link with no number for the comments, when I click on it, it just disappears. However, I find that if I go to the right of the screen, there is an ad with an 'X'. If I click on the 'X', it goes back to the previous screen. Now if I click on that same story, it loads with the comments accessible.

Normally it is just to the left of the lock icon. I can't think of a reason for it to be completely missing. Is it only missing on Yahoo?

Thank you ... simple solution and clearly stated ... not a fan of Yahoo but comments show the heartbeat of its readers ... Any difference ... you betcha!
02-09-2024 05:08 AM
"click the shield icon at the left end of the address bar (next to the lock)". What? I do not see a "shield icon" at the left end of the address bar, or a "lock". All Yahoo comments disappear. Can you post a screen shot?

Hello Firefox and Mozilla. I am not a "new user" as you claim. Been using Firefox and Mozilla for years. I did upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, did that change throw you off? Firefox will not allow Yahoo comments to populate, when I click comments the entire section disappears. Please provide a fix. None of the fixes I read will work. Thank you.

This is something new, that's obviously affecting a lot of people. Has Yahoo made some ill-advised change without beta testing? Or is this the beta test, which has already pointed out a major problem to be fixed?
11-02-2025 10:56 PM
How?
09-04-2025 09:58 PM
Thanks for this. It pointed me in the right direction. I went to Privacy & Security in Settings and saw the "Enhanced Tracking Protection" and "Manage Exceptions...". I just added the sites where I had the problem (Arcamax (Disqus) and GoComics (OpenWeb)), www.siteX.com, refreshed the pages, and the comments showed up. I still kept my Browser Privacy setting to "Custom" with all 5 boxes checked "In all Windows" for "Tracking" and "Fingerprinters" and "Cookies" set to "From unvisited sites" (or the "Cross site cookies and isolate ...".
19-10-2025 12:35 PM
Having the 5 boxes still checked doesn't matter, as you just opened yourself completely up to bypassing those checkmarks by making the exceptions. Simpler version...your electronic shield that keeps everything out still works with other sites, but when you put in an exception, you are turning off the shields completely.

Not a solution. We should be able to use tracking protection block. The comments show up on Edge. They do not show up on FireFox. How about Yahoo fixing their problem?
19-10-2025 12:37 PM
It's happening again on Yahoo, shield up or down on Firefox, yet comments work on Chrome. grrr...I don't care much for Chrome.
28-01-2026 09:56 AM
Nope. Didn't work 4 me. I can't see yahoo comments on any of my three different browsers (FF, Chrome, Edge). I could this early this morning (ie 500am cst) w Edge. I have since rebooted, restarted, updated software. Thanks

Usually, Firefox's built-in tracking protection is the issue, but it also could be an add-on.
During 2025, Firefox got a new option to adjust tracking protection on the Settings page:
Privacy & Security panel
Enhanced Tracking Protection section
Under both "Strict" and "Custom" you'll find these two checkboxes:
[_] Fix major site issues (recommended)
Helps load sites and features by unblocking only essential elements that may contain trackers. Covers most common problems.
[_] Fix minor site issues
Restores things like videos in an article or comment sections by unblocking elements that may contain trackers. This can reduce site issues but offers less protection. Must be used with fixes for major issues.
You could try checking both of those to see whether it helps. Note that with "Standard" blocking, strict rules apply in private windows and there isn't a way to make an exception there.
28-01-2026 11:15 AM
I am using firefox and I just turned off the tracking protection and it still does not load the comments section.
28-01-2026 12:12 PM
In my testing:
"Standard" level Tracking Protection + Opening a news article in a regular non-private window: It took about 20 seconds to see comments after clicking the View Comments link.
"Strict" level Tracking Protection +"Fix major site issues (recommended)": Comments never loaded after clicking the View Comments link.
"Strict" level Tracking Protection + disabling tracking protection: Comments never loaded, but there was an intolerable amount of advertising and overlaid messages. Turned tracking protection back on.
"Strict" level Tracking Protection +"Fix major site issues (recommended)" + "Fix minor site issues": Comments never loaded after clicking the View Comments link.
After experimenting and going back to Standard, I had to clear cache and cookies before comments would load again.
So it seems that comments on Yahoo aren't covered by the normal methods for making exceptions, but I couldn't tell you why.
28-01-2026 12:46 PM
When I click on sports or most entertainment or home and garden articles, I can access and make comments as normal. When I click the comment bubble on political articles I cannot see or make comments. The comment bubble has a number in it, so some folks are allowed to make comments.....even on articles published today.
28-01-2026 01:19 PM
I've also noticed that articles that have a round comment bubble are the ones that do not bring up, or let me make comments. The ones with a square chat bubble will let me see and make comments.
06-06-2024 12:01 AM
Yeah. Yahoo keeps changing their format. When they go back to the old style pages, everything works fine. Now they've gone to this 'New Look' and the Comments sections don't show up again.
15-06-2024 01:37 PM
Not sure what the problem is. It's only happening on my android tablet, not my android phone or my windows laptop. Things have been really weird this week, it's like AI has been given full control of everything and it's not doing that great a job.
22-06-2024 06:56 AM
Yahoo not only rejects the majority of the comments I make,...now it's not even opening comment sections. I can't read comments. I can't help but feel like the Ai is trying to discourage my comments all together. I can post an lol with a gif and it gets rejected. Years ago I went to Xitter, formerly known as Twitter, because of Yahoo's comment section. Now Xitter sucks because of Elmo. Sucks when Ai tells you to sit down and STFU.

Shut off the enhanced tracking shield'. It is to the left on the url line !! Yes...you will have to do that for every browser or tab you open !! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
FIX THIS BUG FIREFOX !!!
