I am running Ubuntu 24.04 with XFCE desktop, a relatively lightweight environment, and 8GB RAM. I currently am connected to this forum using the chromium browser, because Firefox periodically brings my system to a nearly complete stop. Firefox is my preferred browser, but it is truly becoming unusable. I have neither the skill set, the inclination, or the time to try to figure out why this is happening. At various times, Firefox uses essentially all CPU resources, to the point that is takes many minutes to just close Firefox windows. I am posting this here because previous attempts to convey this information to someone at Mozilla have been futile. Maybe it will be noticed here.
