Hello

Firefox release notes
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases
Since the release of Firefox 63 https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/63.0/releasenotes

The option to Never check for updates was removed from about:preferences. You can use the DisableAppUpdate enterprise policy as a substitute.

Firefox policies https://mozilla.github.io/policy-templates
DisableAppUpdate https://mozilla.github.io/policy-templates/#disableappupdate
The Enterprise Policy Generator https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/enterprise-policy-generator helps to create the configuration file

{
  "policies": {
    "DisableAppUpdate": true
  }
}

By way of other illustration https://www.youtube.com/embed/wiWZOm_UX30

Another way, not to block updates, or, to block updates
DisableAppUpdate 0 not to block updates
By way of illustration, DisableAppUpdate 1 block updates
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox1.png

Use the Troubleshooting Information page to help fix Firefox issues
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-troubleshooting-information-page-fix-firefox

Enterprise Policies: This shows you if your browser is being managed by Windows Group Policy or a policies.json file. If enterprise policies are managing Firefox, clicking on Active will show you a list of the policies that are currently active on

Man I wish Google Chrome were as easy....

A simple way to kill the update notifications, if you don't have GPOs or anything fancy, say an air gapped network...

Generate this registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox]

DWORD 32 = DisableAppUpdate=1

Reboot... done, no more nags!

I guess I should have mentioned this is happening on a Mac

Hello

Enterprise policy allows customized deployments, using Windows Group Policy or a cross-platform JSON file.

By way of illustration a cross-platform json file.

firefox.pngVery interesting. And where is it on windows?

Hello

How to Disable Firefox Automatic Updates on Windows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiWZOm_UX30 is it your question.

Thank you, it works.

It is more logically to give link to the blog. There is templates in there.

https://www.journeybytes.com/disable-firefox-quantum-updates/#policies.json

But after update (Updates need to be done for security and new features.) the directory is erased.

So you need to do this each time you update Firefox.

Not cool...

You can use the Windows registry.

At one point in the video, a black screen appears, and that's normal, that's my strategy, the time it takes to answer Yes in the "User Account Control" (UAC) dialog box.

Thank you. A created value in wrong branch, so it does not work.

firefoxreg.pngNow it correct. But I updated Firefox to the latest version.

firefoxreg1.png

So need to wait a new version to check how it work.

I was simply surprised that there were no such problems on Linux. Why make it for Windows?

As far as i'm concerned Firefox on Linux
DisableAppUpdate, yes https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/forced-restart/m-p/48813/highlight/true#M17511
DisableAppUpdate, no https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/feedback-automatic-updates-and-forced-browser-restarts/m-...

Clarification as far as i'm concerned install Firefox on Linux

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux
System Firefox installation (for advanced users) that's my installation.

He he he. This is a real sore spot. Why not just return the third button - do nothing?
