Suggestions for Improving Mozilla Firefox

Making moves

Dear Mozilla Team,

As a daily Firefox user, I would like to share some suggestions that could further enhance the browsing experience and strengthen the browser’s position as a competitive option in the market.

  1. Split Tabs: Implementing a native feature that allows users to split the view into multiple tabs within the same window would greatly improve multitasking and productivity. From what I’ve read, you are already working on this, which is great news!

  2. Support for JPEG XL: Native support for this format would encourage wider adoption on the web and benefit both users and developers while also contributing to energy efficiency in browsing. It’s surprising that Mozilla, a strong advocate for open formats, has not been one of the first to adopt it.

  3. Advanced Text-to-Speech Functionality: An integrated text and PDF reader with a high-quality voice would be a great addition for accessibility and convenience. I understand that developing realistic voices is challenging, but having a built-in text-to-speech option could attract many students and be an important feature for inclusivity.

  4. Improved Password Management on Mobile Devices: Currently, on iOS, Firefox allows autofilling passwords in other apps, but it does not support Passkeys. Enhancing this integration would make Firefox a more comprehensive password manager and increase user loyalty to the browser.

  5. High-Quality Streaming Support: On Linux systems, many streaming platforms limit playback quality to 720p unless additional extensions are installed. Adding native support for 1080p or higher playback without requiring extra configurations would be a valuable improvement.

I truly appreciate Mozilla’s ongoing efforts to enhance privacy, security, and the overall user experience. I hope these suggestions are helpful and contribute to further innovation in future versions of the browser.

Best regards,
cuantocarlos
