It appears that since I'm using AWS SES to send messages, the "Open Message in Conversation" / "Message threads" has become totally useless to me.
For example, for this specific message thread:
I've sent the message that is starred, and then I received the 2 replies above.
I right-clicked on the starred message, selected "Open Message in Conversation", and...
Even in the normal view, if I turn on the "Toggle message threads", they show separately:
This is very likely because the email I sent contains this:
> Message-ID: <xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx@mydomain.com>
But their reply contains this:
> References: <xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxx-000000@us-west-2.amazonses.com>
> In-Reply-To: <xxxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxx-000000@us-west-2.amazonses.com>
As the Message-ID is replaced by AWS SES at the time of sending the email.
However, if:
1) the subject is the same (ignoring "Re:" and "Fwd:")
2) the sender matches the "To:"
Shouldn't Thunderbird keep the messages in the same thread?
Otherwise, if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve this, that would be appreciated 😊
Thank you!
