Address bar search engine selection after 140.0

Loyisius
Making moves

Before update 140.0: I typed a word into the address bar and then clicked the preferred search engine icon to complete the search. This took two (2) actions.

After update 140.0: When I type a word into the address bar I then have to click the drop down menu to the left and select the preferred search engine by clicking and then press enter or click the arrow to complete the search. Now it takes four (4) actions.

Please give me the option to reinstate the instantly clickable icons below the search query in the address bar. I am aware that the instantly clickable icons are still available in the top right search bar.

Seconding this.

I don't want to dig around in a menu to find what used to be just, there. I just want to click the nice visible icon like I always have

Type about:config in the address bar > press Enter

  • click 'Accept the risk and continue'

  • search for browser.urlbar.scotchBonnet.enableOverride > change the value to false

This bought back the row of icons but it still requires more clicks to execute the search.

Searching from the address bar hasn't changed - works the same way in 115 and 128.

- click address bar

- enter search term

- click search engine icon at bottom

- enter to submit

I am sure that some revisions to the new drop down are in progress, one of them being that once you click the icon, you can drag the mouse down to your choice and may even initiate the search. So that's at least one less action.

oh nice, thanks very much for that

now how long until that gets broken... we will see
