Hey all,
Over the past several months, Mozilla Connect has continued to grow, and we're now preparing for the next chapter as we work toward bringing Mozilla Connect and Mozilla Support together.
Before we make those changes, we want to better understand what motivates you to participate, what you value most about your experience on Mozilla Connect, and how we can build a meaningful contributor journey for everyone.
To help us do that, we'd love for you to complete the Mozilla Contributor Survey 2026:
https://mzl.la/contribsurvey-2026
The survey will remain open until August 24, 2026 September 1, and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
Your responses will help us shape the future contributor experience across Mozilla, including how we approach providing recognition, support community members throughout their contribution journey, and plan the upcoming Mozilla Connect migration to Mozilla Support.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Your feedback will help us build a stronger experience for the entire Mozilla community.

14. Which concerns, if any, do you have about the upcoming migration?

Hey Grundt, thanks for sharing your feedback!
Fortunately, SUMO has RSS functionality already. If you go to a specific thread in the Community Forum, the menu should be available in the right sidebar. Feel free to try and flag to us if you find an issue with the functionality.

Thanks for the reply kelimuttu, and yes, I'm aware that an RSS feed is putatively available. I've been subscribed to it for awhile.
The problem is that it stopped working for some of us.
The RSS server is apparently enrolled in a Cloudflare feature intended to block bots, but that has the unfortunate side effect of blocking legitimate RSS readers.
A bug was opened, but doesn't seem to be getting any attention, at least as of yet. The bug reporter included simple steps to reproduce the behavior, but it's still marked UNCOMFIRMED.

That bug is for Mozilla Connect, though. I'd recommend trying the same functionality in the Mozilla Support platform as I previously suggested because Connect and SUMO maintained separately.

these questions and their answer options are misleading at BEST
"7. What originally inspired you to make your first contribution?" available answers: I wanted to give back to Mozilla/I wanted to be part of the Mozilla community/I want to be recognized for my contribution/I wanted to gain experience that would help my education or career/I believe in Mozilla's mission/I wanted to share my knowledge or expertise/I wanted to improve Mozilla products/I wanted to learn new skills/Someone invited me or encouraged me to contribute/I wanted to help other users
none of those are the real answer which is I GOT FED UP WITH THE AWFUL CHANGES MOZILLA WAS MAKING AND WANTED MY VOICE HEARD WHEN I SAY HOW AWFUL THEY ARE!!!!!
"8. What motivates you to continue contributing today?" Available answers: Supporting Mozilla's mission
Being part of the Mozilla community/Contributor badges, levels, or achievements/Being recognized by Mozilla or the community for my contributions/Seeing my contributions help other users/Having opportunities to interact with Mozilla staff/Taking on new challenges and responsibilities/Seeing my contributions improve Mozilla products/The personal satisfaction of giving back/Receiving appreciation from the people I help/Knowing that my contributions make a meaningful impact/Learning new skills and building expertise/Building relationships and collaborating with other contributors
Real answer: I keep coming back because you KEEP MAKING MOZILLA A WORSE AND WORSE EXPERIENCE AND I FEEL LIKE I'M LOOSING MY MIND AND CONTROL OVER EVERY ASPECT OF MY LIFE AND EXPRESSING MY DISPLEASURE HERE IS THE ONLY CONTROL OVER THIS SITUATION I HAVE.
"9. How could Mozilla better support you as a contributor?" available answers: More interaction with Mozilla staff/More events/Leadership opportunities/Better documentation/More learning opportunities/Easier onboarding/Mentorship/More opportunities to influence products/Clear contributor progression/More recognition
Real answer: actually listening to and taking the advice of contributors AT ALL. We've been saying for MONTHS how horrid the new mobile format is and it's resulted in nothing but the assurance that an apology is owed to us, but with no actual apology anywhere to be found.
Oh, and you finally have an answer with an "other (please specify)" option but when you click it it doesn't give the option to specify.
"14. Which concerns, if any, do you have about the upcoming migration?" available answers: My previous contributions may be lost or difficult to find/My badges, status, or recognition may not transfer/Product ideas and feedback may become harder to discover/The new platform may be harder to use or navigate/The Connect community may lose its identity/It may become harder to interact with Mozilla staff/Ideas may receive less visibility or follow-up/Discussions from Connect and Mozilla Support may become confusing/I do not have enough information about the migration/I do not have any concerns/Other (please specify)
actual answer I'm being given an option to write even though i clicked "other": I suspect this change is for the purpose of blowing off user feedback. forcing us to go to support which is for bugs to report issues that were designed badly but working "as mozilla intends" makes it pretty apparent you don't want feedback period. you want mozilla users to fall in line and just blindly accept all product changes.

I see you deleted my comment where I pointed out how lacking the answer options are and provided REAL answers. Sorry you don't like user feedback, I guess that's why you're getting rid of the user feedback community.

Naah, thanks for providing candid feedback. Just to clarify though, Connect is not going away. We're going to integrate the platforms, not eliminate it.
15-08-2026 02:52 PM
but "integrating the platforms" mashes feedback and bug reports together, which are things that should be kept separate because bug reports need to take priority and adding feedback in with that would be detrimental to your ability to handle bugs, thus discouraging people from leaving feedback.
Your claim to "integrate" is a transparent lie, you're just getting rid of feedback because you haven't been getting the feedback you want. That's why you put out this survey with it's only-positive-answer multiple choice is it not? Because you want feedback to can take back to your investors to show them we totally agree with what they want to hear. But we don't.
For instance: Fix the mobile format, I'm begging you, the current format is way too hard to use with my small hand. Most people use phones one handed, some people don't have a choice in that because they only have one hand to use. It's discriminatory and I know that's not what your investors want to hear but it's what they NEED to hear.

Just to clarify, SUMO is primarily a product support issues, not a place for filing bug reports. Please check out https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/file-bug-report-or-feature-request-mozilla for more information.
And regarding your concern about combining the platforms: product ideas and user support will continue to have its own space. Bringing Mozilla Connect and SUMO together doesn't mean we're combining every type of conversation into one. We understand that these spaces serve different purposes, and preserving those differences is an important part of how we're approaching the migration.
I appreciate that you care deeply about Firefox and want to share your feedback. That said, I won't get into the feedback about the mobile UI here, as it's outside the scope of this particular discussion.

Hi folks,
I wanted to acknowledged that we discovered an incorrect link in the Connect migration section of the contributor survey. The link has now been updated and should point to the correct announcement thread.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend reading the announcement before completing the survey, as it provides important context about the upcoming migration.
Thanks to all of you who have already taken the time to submit a response. Appreciate all the insights you've shared so far. 🙌

Hey all,
Thank you to everyone who has already participated in the survey. We really appreciate the feedback you've shared so far.
That said, we decided to extend the Mozilla Contributor Survey 2026 until September 1st (UTC end of day) to give more contributors a chance to share their feedback.
If you haven't filled it out yet, we'd really appreciate if you can do so before the deadline. The survey takes no more than 10 minutes, and your responses will help us better understand what motivates contributors, what matters most throughout the contributor journey, and understand your concerns prior to the Mozilla Connect migration to Mozilla Support.
Please stay safe wherever you are and #MozLove to you all. ❤️

Just wanted to say that I welcome the move if it means that Connect threads will inherit some of the Support site's features.
For example, discussions will now have a proper paged structure, rather than having to press the Load more replies button several times to get to the newest posts.
And posts will be displayed in chronological order, rather than directly below the comment being replied to. Meaning that a new reply at position #100 can easily be missed if there are 300 posts in the discussion.
I would also welcome the Support site's pre-checking of URL links. The fact that Connect allows users to post links as they please means that there is a glut of seemingly AI-generated spam messages.
(I am talking about the posts that look something like 'Yes, allowing users the option to revert to the previous Android interface would increase productivity and improve the user experience. A bit lik how [link to a spam product] allows users to fill out their tax returns more efficiently')
----
On the other hand, if Connect users now find that their add-ons are being disabled as Support is a protected site, then I would predict a few grumbles.
