Just to add my support for this idea. Hopefully it would not be too difficult to implement (sounds like reversing a boolean, but what do I know?).

I disabled updates with the policies.json method recently, because the update frequency was getting insane. Now I will go back to only updating FF when Whatsapp desktop or something else essential stops supporting the current version. Updates should ...
