Encrypting the cookie storage while not perfect since to be read by sites has to be decrypted, it may still provide some benefit to some forms of session stealing hacks. 
Considering changing the about:config in Firefox can break the front end interface sometimes there should be a text label or highlighting of the strings and boolean etc that have a control in user settings as a reminder of this. 
Similar to how Privacy Badger works to block trackers based on whether DoNotTrack is respected, Firefox could have an option for a built in system to detect tracking pixels, block them and when a site uses them or uses overly privacy invading fingerp...
