It would be great if Thunderbird could offer the ability to undo the sending of an email for a few seconds after the actual sending, similar to what GMAIL does with the "undo send" feature.

This feature has saved my life several times over the past decade. Switching back from Gmail without this kind of feature would be a real step backwards for my sanity :-). Unfortunately, Thunderbird does not even have the ability to apply filters to outgoing messages, so it is not even possible to delay sending all messages as can be done with competing email clients (Outlook, for example).

@MattAuSupportDo you mean Ctrl+Maj+Enter, for "send later"?

If I'm right, the "send later" feature sends msgs at the time we exit Thunderbird, unless we've manually send them before?

Well, the 1st thing to do is to allow to replace, in the toolbar, the "send" button by the "send later" button (currently the "send later" button doesn't exist).

@NeffscapeHow would you like it?

Do you prefer a delay on "send later" instead of waiting to exit Thunderbird, or to keep "send later" as is and to apply the delay on "send"?

I agree, I would LOVE the option of undo in Thunderbird (like Gmail has, up to 2 minutes - you can set the delay from some seconds up to 2 minutes)

Bluemail has it and it has saved me sending out nonsense countless times on my android. Please please add a similar feature... That said, on the web some claim to have it but I don't have it in my linux ...

Totally agree!

Is a feature for mail pros that think,work and type very (too) fast.

No UI needed except from settings screen.

Could be easily done by a little account setting to "always delay sending new mail for [1 or 2] minutes".

You could then find always and re edit your mail in your outbox during the configured delay time.

I use this in outlook too.

Hello, I've just signed up to +1 this!

With the recent Gmail changes dropping support for checking external email accounts, a lot of people will switch to Thunderbird (just like me - I'm currently in the process of migrating my clients one by one to it) and this is one of the sanity saving features they'll miss. "Save later" extension works but this should be a core feature when using the "Send" button. It's not convenient to always use the "Send later" option.

A lot of times in Gmail, it has saved me from accidentally sending to the wrong email, cc or bcc, attaching documents/images etc, or even sending the wrong invoice to the wrong client especially when in a rush.

A simple notification of some sort, with a 10 second countdown and an option to Cancel the Send action would be great.
