Hi Thunderbird Team,

I would like to suggest a new sorting feature. My goal is to sort emails so that:

  1. All starred emails appear first, sorted by Date Received (descending).

  2. All unstarred emails appear next, also sorted by Date Received (descending).

Essentially, I want a two-level sort where the first level is the star status, and the second level is the date, both descending.

Currently, Thunderbird only allows single-column sorting, so it’s not possible to achieve this in one view. This feature would make it easier to quickly see the most important emails at the top without losing chronological order.

Thank you for considering this improvement!

Great idea! 🙂

But also any two-level-sort (if not three-level!) choosable by the user:

from > subject > date

subject > date desc.

subject > from

etc. pp.

(all up or down)
