Status: New idea

I was a long-time desktop (Linux) Thunderbird user, but eventually became frustrated with its inability to automatically sync my contacts with my phone.  I use Outlook.com, but this suggestion equally applies to those who use GMail for contacts storage.

I solved my problem by switching to Evolution.  I just enter my email accounts via the "Online Accounts" application and then Evolution seems to make everything work automatically.  I wish Thunderbird could do this too, as I prefer its interface.

So basically you want to share data from a safer app, with unsafer apps.
Don’t see the logic in that.

I've got my Google Account configured in the latest Thunderbird version and Contacts and Calendars seem to be syncing ok.

I would love this feature to be done without other extensions please.  I can't code, but for me I use my contacts across a number of places so I need to be able to sync them.  I want to use this for business but am testing out personal first and without the sync, it doesn't make it easy.  I know I don't want to import, they really need to sync.  Thank you
