Currently, when you delete an email, a dialogue pops up to confirm your action, which seems less efficient to me.

Instead, I'd suggest an undo button at the bottom for a few seconds.

I'd also include an undo function when sending an email.

Just noticed - even Mozillas own Firefox for Android has an undo popup when you close a tab via swiping. And that is just closing a tab, not possibly deleting a very important mail.

I’d also love an “Undo” feature after swiping to delete or archive.

It happens to me several times a week! Swipe one way or another by mistake and loose an email. Sometimes I remember which one it was and can go fish it out from the archive or trash folder, most of the times I have no idea what I lost there, which is a serious usability and productivity issue.

So a thousand times yes for having an Undo button appearing after a swipe move!

Thanks!

I think you need to have a look at your settings. It is possible to set various actions for swipe gestures and it is now possible to set delete confirmation. It is not quite an undo button but it may resolve your problem.

I have my Thunderbird on Android set to Italian but it will be something like:

  • Settings
  • General settings
  • Interaction
  • Confirm action

Hope this helps. Personally I don't like swipe to delete but that is a personal choice and selectable.

That does NOT resolve the need for an Undo button at all because I delete dozens of emails each day and the additional confirmation DOUBLES the nu

but like more the comments than the original idea: not only for delete, but keep an "actions history" & have an undo button for any actions that can be undone (delete, arrive, move, etc - anything where the message is still "somewhere" and can go back to where it was) - similar to the desktop version

thx developers!

I've upvoted this as I don't think swipe actions should ever be carried out without some fallback - they are too easy to do accidentally. For instance, I turned off the 'swipe from left' because it is too easy to do that when trying to swipe in the folders drawer (also a swipe from the left).

I think the best idea would be to offer a dropdown with:

  • Undo button
  • Delete confirmation (JUST for swipe, but not for all delete actions)
  • Disabled

Nearly every other mall client has this feature because people accidentally delete things all the time (even with confirmation on) . Please add it to Thunderbird! I like to set up swipe-to-delete and when I'm using that in my unified inbox it's a hassle to have to figure out which account I deleted a message from, then navigate to that trash folder and restore the message, then back to unified inbox.

I like to set up swipe-to-delete and when I'm using that in my unified inbox it's a hassle to have to figure out which account I deleted a message from, then navigate to that trash folder, figure out where the deleted message is (if I was able to catch what it was before accidental deletion) and restore the message, then back to unified inbox. If I managed to accidentally delete something without seeing what it was (which is also A Thing That Happens), it's effectively gone forever without an undo button.
