Making moves
Status: New idea

As far as I know there is no possibility to Detach or Delete (nor Ccompress) inline (embedded) attachments (images) in Thunderbird.
For now, the only options (right click) on inline images are "Copy Image" and "Save Image As..".

Please add "Detach embedded Image" and "Delete embedded Image" (and may be "Compress embedded Image").
And also "Detach all embedded Images"...

Thanks a lot,
Bob

Agree, this would be great to have natively - right now we can delete attachments easily, but perhaps it wasn't nearly as easy for the developers to remove in-line images (my theory is that there's a very visible header/divider in the raw message code to separate attachments from the message body - and when the attachment is within the message, it isn't as easy) - but I wonder if anyone knows any Extensions that could accomplish this too?

Of course I would find this very helpful reddit post - which works just great as of today, Feb 1, 2025, with TB version 128.6.0 ESR - https://old.reddit.com/r/Thunderbird/comments/ttqa5i/plungin_to_remove_embedded_images_signature_in/... - turning on this hidden config option (please don't ever remove it, Mozilla!! It's okay to hide it so normies can't find it and hurt themselves, but please keep it around in the hidden options) worked great - now I can delete inline image/attachments with wild abandon and keep my email trimmed of the ridiculous 8MB's worth of pictures Apple Mail users seem to constantly be inserting into their emails.
