It would be beneficial to have the capability for profiles to synchronize across multiple computers.

Specifically, I am interested in establishing distinct work, personal, and study/school profiles, each of which I would like to seamlessly synchronize across different instances of Firefox on various computers. This synchronization should include bookmarks, open tabs, browsing history, add-ons, and other relevant data.

Additionally, the inclusion of an option to opt out of synchronization would be highly appreciated, especially in situations where I prefer not to have my personal profile synchronized with my work computer.

All of these features should be accessible through a single Firefox account/login.

And it should be easy to switch between profiles.

And containerize them so they don't know about each other.

This would be really useful between devices, thanks for suggesting @brandonkw123!

Having this feature would be clearly a benefit.
Or a simple way to copy all user settings/profile and paste it on the other device.

Now, it might be a bit more complicate the copying for different operating system.

Vote on all of them them to get the feature implemented.

Hey all - right now Firefox Sync works on a per-profile basis. So each Firefox Sync account you create can sync one profile. This means you can already sync specific profiles between specific machines.

Rather than create a bunch of different email addresses, you can just append "+" and a string to the user part of a single email address to create distinct Mozilla Accounts.

For example, if your email address is "[email protected]", and you want to create a sync account for your "personal" profile and another account for your "school" profile, you could create two new Mozilla Accounts with the usernames "[email protected]" and "[email protected]", then sign into sync in each profile separately.

Does this help? If not, let us know what alternative you have in mind!

I decided to switch back from Edge but this is extremely irritating that profiles are basically incomplete. My home bookmarks and work bookmarks are two different things. If I only have one set what is the point of having profiles?

@jhirsch  - This is a hack which solves it sort of, sure. But it basically says: profiles does not cover your use case and FF would works just as well for you if it would not support profiles at all.

Per-Profile Sync: Let Firefox Sync each profile independently across devices (selective, multi-profile Sync)

Summary
Today Firefox Sync ties a Mozilla account to essentially one synced profile per device. I want granular, per-profile Sync — the ability to choose which Firefox profiles sync to which devices, all under the same Mozilla account.

The problem
I run multiple Firefox profiles for clean separation of clean separation of contexts
- Private
- Festival
- Work
Across my three Macs the reality looks like this:

Private Mac → I use all three profiles
Festival Mac → I only need the Festival profile
Work Mac → I only need the Work profile

But Firefox Sync currently only lets me reliably sync one profile (Private) everywhere. That leaves the Festival and Work profiles living locally only on my the individual Mac — with unsynced, unbacked-up data: Bookmarks, open tabs, history, saved passwords, extensions, and container setups that could be lost if the device dies. It also forces messy workarounds like separate Mozilla accounts just to get isolation.

Proposed solution — Selective Profile Sync
Extend Firefox Sync and the new Profile Manager so that:

Each profile can be individually enabled/disabled for Sync, per device.
A single Mozilla account can hold multiple synced profiles, and each device chooses which profiles to pull down.
Per-profile control over what syncs (bookmarks, tabs, history, passwords, add-ons/extensions, preferences, containers, themes, toolbar layout).
A device-and-profile matrix in Settings so you can see and manage exactly which profile syncs to which device.

Example workflow

Private Mac ⇄ syncs Private + Festival + Work
Festival Mac ⇄ syncs Festival only
Work Mac ⇄ syncs Work only
Everything stays end-to-end encrypted, backed up, and consistent — no more orphaned local profiles.

Why this matters (benefits)

Data safety / backup: no more unsynced profiles stranded on one laptop.
Privacy & Security: keep Work and Personal contexts isolated without juggling multiple Mozilla accounts.
Productivity & cross-device continuity: the right tabs, bookmarks, passwords, and extensions on the right machine.
Cleaner than Containers alone: Containers isolate within a profile; this isolates across profiles and devices.
Great for consultants, developers, multi-client freelancers, and shared/work machines.

Related capabilities to align with
This pairs naturally with the modernized Firefox Profile Manager, Firefox View, Multi-Account Containers, Tab Sync / send tab to device, and Firefox Sync on desktop, Android, and iOS — so per-profile sync should ideally extend to mobile too.

If you've ever lost a local-only profile, wished Work and Personal stayed separate, or wanted multiple profiles synced under one account, please upvote — selective, per-profile Firefox Sync would be a huge win for everyone running more than one profile. 🔥

I have several devices, two of which I'd like to use especially actively: my work PC and my home PC. On the other devices, I'd use my main account 95% of the time.
