Support Casting

Add official support to casting to an Android or Apple TV, right now you have to use sketchy extension, it's not a good user experience.

I understand that implementing this directly in the browser has dependencies and is quite technically complex, but is creating an official add-on just as complex?

Support casting. The system wouldn't let me upvote the other suggestions on this topic, so I'll create a new one. As it is, when I want to cast, I use Chrome. Let us cast, please.

Proper Chromecast support requires proprietary Google software and should not be added to Firefox, as convenient as it might be.  Instead, we all should be petitioning Google to open up and standardize the protocol.  AirPlay is also entirely proprietary.  Firefox should not encourage the use of either of these terrible protocols, especially when it requires relying on proprietary libraries in order to do so.

Native Screen Casting Support (Google Cast/Miracast) Implementation in Mozilla Firefox

Problem Description: Current versions of Mozilla Firefox lack built-in functionality for direct casting of tabs or the entire desktop to external devices (Android TV, Smart TV). Users are forced to interrupt their sessions and switch to Chromium-based browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge) to output video to a TV. Existing user extensions fail to provide stable screen capture with simultaneous system audio transmission.

Proposed Solution: Integrate a "Cast" feature into the browser's core interface.

• User Interface: Add a cast panel button to the main menu with the option to pin it to the toolbar.

• Source Selection: Implement a mode switch: "Cast tab" and "Cast desktop".

• Audio Capture: Ensure PC system audio transmission to the receiving device's speakers during desktop mirroring.

Expected Benefits:

• Audience Retention. Eliminating the need to use competing browsers in parallel for multimedia tasks.

• Competitiveness. Closing the critical functional gap with Blink-engine products.

• User Experience Improvement. Seamless browser integration with home smart systems.
