Subtasks for Thunderbird Calendar

Dear Thunderbird Developers,

Since I started organizing my tasks via CalDAV in Thunderbird, I've been missing one feature in particular: "Subtasks."

Thunderbird currently cannot display subtasks. Is there a specific reason why this now common feature is missing in Thunderbird? A subtask is normally displayed indented below the main task. When I create a subtask in the cloud (Nextcloud), it's currently displayed in Thunderbird as a regular task without any association, i.e., treated as a normal task. This is obviously inconvenient for task management, as it's not uncommon for a task to contain multiple subtasks. As a workaround, I'm currently writing the subtasks in the description text, but it would be much better if a subtask could simply be checked off after completion 👉 see example attached.

I would be delighted if subtasks were implemented in Thunderbird.

+1 for this. I use Nextcloud via CalDAV, with Tasks.org on Android. Subtasks created in Tasks.org sync correctly, but Thunderbird displays them as unrelated top-level tasks, which makes the task list very difficult to use.
Proper support for the existing subtask relationships would make Thunderbird's task view much more useful for CalDAV users.
