Currently I'm doing research on a heap of products, and collating into an online spreadsheet. I'm wearing out the Ctrl+Tab keys flicking back and forth, copying/pasting etc!

It would be awesome to "pop-out" a tab and have it "float" on top like what Picture-in-Picture does. I know you can the tab in a new window, resize it, move it etc but it still doesn't stick on-top and has borders that take up space.

I've seen extensions that try to do split screen for tabs but they don't seem to work very well. Thanks!

Mozilla please take care of this. In the age of widescreens, this option is practically a "must-have" for enjoyable and efficient work. I know we can use the Side View add-on, but it's a dead, pre-alpha project, that hasn't been updated for a year. We can also open additional windows and work with the operating system's built-in tiling system, but that's not the point! The point is for our browser to offer necessary, modern features out-of-the-box. Especially since other browsers already offer such options: Vivaldi, MS Edge and the Firefox-based (!) Zen Browser.

Split screen (as implemented in Microsoft Edge)

I really like the split-screen feature in Microsoft's Edge browser. Especially on an Ultra-Wide display. If it is possible to implement this in Firefox, I'd use it daily!

It appears that Chrome is currently exploring this feature , which would leave Mozilla as the sole prominent browser without it.

What's the status on this feature? Would be very helpful for users of ultrawide monitors.

Hi folks,

We are actively working on the Split View feature and anticipate that a very early version will be available in Nightly in the next few months. Stable channel release dates will depend on how quickly we can close the gap between this early version and full functionality of the Split View we've envisioned + the number of issues we'll discover in Nightly.

Please stay tuned for Nightly updates and posts in this thread – I will write a note here when everyone will be able to try the feature out.

You can also follow the Bugzilla meta bug for Split View here.
