SMTP passwords - room for a second password

II have recently joined an email supplier where a second separate SMTP password is required for authentication.

Could the SMTP dropdown option include " alternative password" in addition to "normal password"?

From reading some entries on the forum there is already a "kludge" to solve this by sending an email and entering the alternative SMTP password when it is asked for.  Presumably it is then remembered for all other emails sent, but where is it kept, and how is it accessed if it has to be changed?

It would be good to  include an option for an alternative as this is obviously now being asked for by email  suppliers as part of their increasing security.
