Hey all, I want to begin this with a huge thank you to the dev team and everyone who's working on building, updating and evolving this browser, as well as the open minded people sharing their ideas and support!
I'm coming from Yandex browser and haven't used anything else besides that for quite some time now, particularly I haven't touched Firefox since I was a kid and we still had the blocky monitors and those off gray computers.
Now, I understand that every browser has its own identity, way of thinking, vision and idea, however, there are things I was using in the Yandex browser that I just miss and cannot live without at this point and I feel like they'd be helpful for a lot of users switching browsers right now or even long time users.
The first thing is the "site identity/origin* located in the URL bar. No matter how far I might be in a website, I could always click on the name of the website in the URL bar or Ctrl + click it and it would bring me to the home page of that website or open the page landing in a new tab for me, without having to actually click on the "Home" option of a website or click on the logo of the website. Something for which I could not find a feasible workaround for here in Firefox.
The second thing are the tab groups and I'm only talking about the tab groups (I do not use the containers in my day to day, however I see how they can be an important thing for some users). In Yandex I could create tab groups that can be pinned to the task bar and every time I opened a new tab within that tab group that specific new tab would automatically stay within that tab group. Now, I might be doing something wrong, so please correct me if I'm wrong, however with Firefox I have three tab groups created but they cannot be pinned in any way and can be opened at the same time with all the tabs in them, which creates and extreme amount of clutter on the taskbar, no way to minimize them and no way to isolate them. In Yandex everything was contained when referring to tab groups. It gave you a clear view of the groups you've created and the tabs within them, and they became active and you could view what's inside them only after actually clicking on them. To try and put it very simply it was like every tab group acted as its own little browser/new window but it was still contained in the taskbar up top which gave a lot of versatility, basically like a pinned tab but with a tab group.
I would love to hear your thoughts on these two things.
Thank you in advance! 🙂
