Hello, My Wife and I are long time users of Thunderbird on our PC's and have recently been trying to set it up on our Pixel 8 Pro android phones.

I am totally blind and she is low vision. We are having trouble trying to line up the QR code  to transfer accounts over. Its hard to do when you can't see the code or line it up just right.

We had two suggestions to offer that might make things easier for us and other people who are blind or low vision.

1. Change things so the QR code doesn't have to be lined up. We frequently have to find a QR code on a laptop and have our android phone locate it. Usually once that is done the app looking for the code will just beep when its found on the screen and its just brought into the app with no other step for the user.

2. Currently we are using AquaMail on our Pixel 8 Pro phones. It gets the info to add each account from the data that is already been added to Android. We have added each email account to Android so those accounts can be interacted with.

AquaMail has a drop down menu where you can one at a time add those other accounts to AquaMail and no need to re-enter the account data or password.

I don't know the details of what is involved in doing that, but it is a method that works very easy for us and others.

Thank you,

Thank you for your feedback. Please note that depending on the number of accounts you may have to scan more than one QR code in a row, manually clicking in the PC to show the next one once the phone scans it.

Please note that Thunderbird may require you to scan a number of QR codes in succession to sync. The next code will show only after you click the button in desktop client once your phone scanned the current code. This information may not be clearly presented to people with vision problems – I have a good eyesight and still needed a moment to realize why the process is stuck.
