We request the implementation of a search/filter functionality in Firefox's vertical tabs, allowing the user to quickly locate open tabs by typing keywords, similar to how the Tab Center Reborn extension works.
Currently, when using vertical tabs, navigating between a large number of tabs becomes inefficient, requiring manual scrolling. The inclusion of a dedicated search field in the vertical tab panel would allow:
Filtering tabs in real time based on page title or URL
Reducing the time to locate specific tabs
Significantly improving usability in scenarios with many open tabs
Approaching the user experience offered by Tab Center Reborn
Functional Requirements
Visible search field at the top of the vertical tab panel
Dynamic filtering based on typed text
Search by:
Tab title
URL (optional)
Keep non-matching tabs hidden while the filter is active
Clear the filter and restore the complete list when deleting the text
Expected Benefits
Increased productivity for advanced users
Improved browsing experience with vertical tabs
Reduced dependence on external extensions
Standardization of functionalities already well-accepted by the Firefox community
Expected Behavior Reference
Extension: Tab Center Reborn
Functionality: Search and filtering of tabs within the sidebar
