Return to previous tab with address bar swipe in new tab page

Currently to return to the tab you were on after pressing new tab you have to scroll down to the "resume" box. However my fingers are already at the top as I was using the address bar or created a new tab.

Swiping to return to pages works when I'm in an active tab but doesn't when I'm in the new tab view.

Related to this, swiping towards the end of the stack (left to move right) could move to the new page, and since the main idea you can easily slide back so the effort is minimal.
