remember print settings for session ... so i can print to the same non-default printer several times without having to select it each time.

The printer shouldn't change until you have changed it, even after quitting/restarting FF. Try 'Reset printer' at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages#Reset_printer/.

Generally, I would prefer that the last selected printer be chosen, not the "default printer" (which might be set by the operating system administrator).

The default printer could have a different appearance in the selection menu (different icon, different color).

@Horus_Sirius, as I mentioned that's what should happen. Did you try the printer reset?
