I have just noticed that on Windows 11, the window Title bar no longer has the Firefox icon displayed in the upper left. II don't know how long this has been happening or it's just on my system. Is there a way to return it?

I need this because I have many browser windows open and some are Firefox and some other browsers. It's difficult to tell which window is FireFox and which are other apps. Why was this removed? If the answer is to make more display space, then I feel that is the wrong answer.

Are you talking about this icon in the top left?

If so, then it's been a while. The icon got removed with Firefox' redesign for Firefox 4.0, released in 2011:

It made way for the Firefox button that replaced the menu bar, since tabs got moved above the address bar. Since then, the menu button got moved to the right hand side and the tabs merged into the title bar, which is how browsers have been designed for over a decade now, so it might be a bit hard to get them to bring back design elements from that far back.

Wow! I’m very surprised it’s been that long. I usually notice this type change soon after it occurs. But in this case I must have ignored it until now. Other browsers did this also. So this change is unlikely to happen.

Thanks for the info.

OK, now I'm really confused. There must be something on my system causing this. It's the next day and I powered up my system and, SURPRISE, the icon in the upper left of the Title bar is back.

I'm all ears to hear if anyone can shed some light on this....

I'd include an image but, apparently, I don't have permission to do so.

Oops. I'm sorry, I completely forgot that it's possible to reenable the title bar. In that case, you're right, the icon should definitely be there. I hope you can figure out what happened there. Good luck.

My research point to a system glitch such as issue with icon cache, etc.
