Provide the combination of AND and OR in filter creation (Boolean Logic) for Advanced Search

Currently, you can create an AND filter (this AND that AND Sam) that triggers on the match of all of the AND parameters. Similarly, you can create an OR filter (this OR that OR Sam) that triggers on the match of any of the OR parameters.  However, you can only create an AND/OR filter (this AND that) OR (Sam OR Jim) manually (by editing the filter script) that will only trigger on a match to this and that combined with either Sam or Jim. Note: this could be done with two unique filters but I have too many already.

Filter creation should provide the capability to create more complex AND/OR filters without the need for manual editing of scripts.

Seems like everyone wants this feature that already exists in better bird. 

Any reason thunderbird doesn't want to utilize a feature already in the thunderbird forked codebase?

This bug/enhancement request has been open TWENTY ONE YEARS, and Thunderbird STILL hasn't implemented this UI feature. This is absolutely crazy for something so basic and required. How can this be possible?

Real world case I am dealing with as I speak: I regularly order groceries from Walmart for local pickup, and unfortunately the stupid system sends like 9 different emails regarding it with no way to turn off the ones I don't want. I SHOULD just be able to create a filter in Thunderbird with the email address, with a bunch of subject lines I want it to catch. But I can't, because the archaic and limited design only allows matching ALL or ANY of the following. Where is the AND/OR options like every other email program has?
