What's the status on this? I know there are several PRs waiting to be merged with the code available, at the very least they can offer us a slightly darker theme if they are against a truly dark AMOLED black for [reason].
Been requesting this for years. I have a feeling the developers are much like all others: they don't actually care about our requests. They just want us as free software testers.
I keep using Samsung Internet on my phone instead of Firefox (thus being deprived of device sync) because Samsung (and Kiwi) are the only two browswers on Android that bothered offering a proper Dark Theme using black.
The Grey Themes are no good to me. Anyone without 20/20 vision has a harder time reading anything white on grey.
If Firefox wants to make a difference (for the better), they should have introduced an AMOLED Dark Theme already. Instead of suggesting us to use "Dark Reader" which, on Android, also only turns everything grey due to Google's stupid Material Design guidelines.
Exactly, we need black theme ASAP! I extremely dislike the Purple theme of Private Browsing mode. It all needs to be OLED black- normal mode, private mode, menus, toolbar, bookmarks etc.
The fact that this hasn't been implemented is evidence that there is someone stalling this with some unknown philosophy on the Product/UX team. This just further cements the fact that even after multiple big reports, feature requests,PRs, and more, that Mozilla is just taking a stance that they are fully out of step with the community, as usual.
The only reasoning I can think of is "Branding", and even then the current Dark pallete is old, dated, and just looks horrible for today's standards.
Sure, it's just a color change, but that's the point.
Still not fully implemented in firefox android app..the dark mode extension works sometimes, but not fully satisfied. The black /dark mode should be implemented as also should be easy to apply the toggle..
