When I close a Firefox window for a specific profile and open that same profile again later, it would be really helpful if Firefox asked whether I want to restore the previous session or start fresh.

Right now, it either restores everything automatically or doesn’t, depending on settings. But with multiple profiles, it would make more sense if this choice could be shown per profile.

Something like: “You had X tabs open in this profile. Restore them?” with options to restore or start a new session.

This would make switching between work and personal profiles much more flexible and avoid accidentally losing or restoring tabs I didn’t intend to.

Quick question for @BlueSaturn ... what about profiles specifically makes this idea more compelling? It seems reasonable to have an option to ask about opening previous tabs every time you launch, even if you don't use multiple profiles.

@david-rubino For me, profiles are what make this especially useful. The existing session restore option brings back everything from the last browsing session, but profiles often represent different contexts (work, personal, study, etc.).

For instance, personal tabs might contain videos, social media, or other content that I don't want reopening automatically when I'm in a professional setting. A per-profile prompt like "You had X tabs open. Restore them?" would give users the flexibility to decide each time instead of relying on a single global restore behavior for every profile.
