New idea
It's a nice privacy feature that Thunderbird blocks remote content by default. But it's very annoying to have to click the "Show remote images" on every email from services you trust.
Desktop Thunderbird has the option of adding senders and hosts to a whitelist, so you can avoid those extra clicks on mail you like. This feature is sorely needed in the Android version as well.
I think I saw that Thunderbird allows remote content from people in your contacts. But that's not really a good general fix as you don't want to pollute your contacts list with every service you get emails from.
