Everything is currently fine. You are welcome to add optional changes, but you will only alienate current users if you ruin everything we currently like. I should never have to change flags to revert my browser to it's previous state.
100% Agree, more than real ! NOBODY asked for that crappy AI sloppy, googlesque UI update ! The old UI was more than fine, but as usual why bother making a software for the people that uses it ? Let's remove stuff that they like, and add stuff that they don't like ! Perfect no ? *Sarcasm*
I don’t have a problem with Nova as a whole. The new icons are fine, the Settings reorganization doesn’t bother me, and changes in areas I visit occasionally are easy to adapt to.
What did bother me was the combination of heavily rounded controls and the strong purple accent in the browser chrome — especially the tab bar, toolbar, and address bar.
Those areas are different from Settings or secondary menus: they are permanently in the user’s field of view. Even when I’m not interacting with them, I’m looking at them all day. A radical change there has a much bigger impact than a larger functional change in a part of the UI I only open occasionally.
For me, the new combination of rounded “pill” shapes and purple accents made the browser itself visually intrusive. I want the browser chrome to recede into the background and let the content be the focus.
I eventually restored a neutral look using Firefox Color plus userChrome.css and userContent.css: square corners, subdued colors, no strong purple accent. I’m perfectly happy to keep the rest of Nova.
That’s why I think the right solution is not to roll Nova back, but to make the most visually dominant parts of it configurable. A simple choice of interface shape and accent style would let users keep the new architecture and functionality without forcing a radically different visual environment on everyone.
Please consider making interface shape and accent intensity/color first-class appearance settings, especially for the browser chrome.
