Status: Trending idea

Please split "Sites you save and visit" into two options: "Sites you save" and "Sites you visit". Many of us do not want visited sited to come up in Shortcuts. It will make homepage look clean. This is available in Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi too. I hope you will implement this very soon. I have attached a screenshot.
Please up vote this idea. Thank you.

Even after 3 years it is sad to see not yet implemented...ironically 4 years back, firefox Android had a setting to whether to show most visited sites or not, not sure why they removed..

Related bug which clearly shows they had a setting

It would be nice to at least know why the team at Mozilla is or isn't considering this as a feature.

and it's not like it's hard work to implement this, iceraven already has it, if only they could upstream the option...

Imported from Chrome recently. Had to "dismiss" 50+ tabs before having to reboot my computer (because the add site option was bugged and was gone). Finally set up my shortcuts, unable to do it all in one row like in Chrome, so I had to do 2 rows with 2 extra in the second row. Now recently visited sites are popping up and being a nuisance. Why is this so difficult to implement. It's genuinely driving me insane.

here in 2025 still wanting the same thing. I want to set shortcuts to the sites I visit frequently and not have them usurped by sites I've visited recently

Same here. After Google implement Manifest V3 and part of my extensions stopped working, I decided switch to Firefox. And gosh, I hate this bar with randomly appeared shortcuts, I only need 5-6 main shortcuts to all my frequently visited sites without adding to this list some random sites that I visited once half of the year ago.

I support this idea! The problem is that different pages of the same site also fly into the "history" in the labels. That's why? Please give me the opportunity to disable the appearance of shortcuts to frequently visited sites in the list... I'll fix what I need myself.

FYI-

This info:

Switching browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.showRecentSaves to false solved my frustration of having history/recents show up with the pinned sites on the home screen.

Does not appear to be accurate anymore- I couldn't find this setting in about:config

Would love to not have every single site (or really every single PAGE) added to the shortcuts.  I have 4 rows as I do have a lot of saved frequently visited sites but usually have 4-5 extra 'blank spaces' that gets gobbled up and oddly sometimes a new unwanted page I visited replaces a previously unwanted saved link...

Would be nice to see either separate pages (as noted in OP) or maybe set some kind of time limit like "Delete these in x hours/days".  I'll be  looking in the History section to see if that exists or not...

Bump,

I also recently switched from chrome because of Manifest V3. Some of the UI/configuration options in Firefox are genuinely baffling to me and almost making me want to go back to chrome (with janky bandaid fixes to ad-block). This is one of those issues. There is literally an option for a "Recent Activity" section on your home page, WHY WHY WHY would you also add history to the "shortcuts" section of the homepage? Just make these two separate things!

I want to be able to pick from a short list of my most visited websites when i open a new tab, not my most visited + a random assortment of websites from my history. Also I should be able to edit the name of these shortcuts and the exact URL like I can in chrome. Additionally, as it currently is, if I've "dismissed" a page from the shortcuts, there's no way to add it to the homepage shortcuts anymore, since it doesn't show up for me to "pin" it.

Very much needed, please implement. Don't want my new/home page bloated, I need it clean and structured.

This is definitely a feature worth adding and improving.
Mozilla Just do it! ^_^
