Please allow change unread message count to display in parenthesis

Supernova changed the unread message count (shown next to a folder) from displaying in parenthesis to displaying inside a colored circle. Please allow us to change a setting somewhere to display this count in parenthesis again instead of the colored circle.

Could you at least remove the circle around the number?  It's not a critical number and is highly distracting.

The new message count icons are butt-ugly and distracting. They look like channel numbers in TV Guide back in the day.

I  am also hoping that this count number in a bubble can be removed entirely

Add me to the list — it's distracting and (in Trash) doesn't always update correctly.

I would love to get rid of the new message count.  The settings allow me to hide the total message count, but the ugly bubbles with new message counts won't go away.  Having them in parentheses would be an improvement, but I would rather not have the count there at all.  Thank you.
