Extended passkey support in Firefox

1. You can save a passkey to your device, not just as a physical key

2. Passkeys sync between devices just like passwords do

3. If there is no passkey saved to Firefox for a website, fallback to one saved in your iCloud keychain (MacOS)

Agree. Synchronizing Passkeys with Firefox should work across different operating systems as seamless as it does with passwords. When using mixed environments of Windows, Android, Linux, iOS, etc., then saving passkeys in the individual OS-specific environment creates a problem as these cannot be synchronized across devices with Firefox.

Syncing Passkeys is essential.
I would never use Passkeys if they are only stored an a single device (Threat of loss, damage...).
The integration using the OS-Eviroment is unsatisfying, because of the lack of using it on other devices/OS.
Please integrate it native in "Firefox Password Manager" to have it synced all over my devices (Android, Windows...).
Thanks for your work!

Very good. Competitors just have implemented that: Google Passwort Manager, Samsung Pass, Keeper, 1Password, also see https://support.google.com/android/answer/14124480?hl=en

With Firefox 128, and Android 14+, there is reportedly support for Passkey synchronization with password managers other than Google Password Manager:

https://www.androidpolice.com/firefox-android-passkeys-third-party-signin/

This is great! However, I use Firefox for managing my passwords. This also works great for signing in with traditional passwords (like G-board support in other apps on Android). However, it seems that Firefox does not yet store and synchronize PassKeys like it synchronizes passwords with other devices if I have Firefox as my password manager.

I am wondering if I am the only one, or if this is not yet supported within Firefox' own password management.

Ridiculously unclear. Also Also consider often we're we're dealing with with a cell cell phone and and it's much much to to read

I agree with this. I don't care at all about TPM bull or third party password managers. A passkey replaces password and username. It should be easy to store and sync just like tradional logins without any extra effort in the name of security through obscurity. Please don't force your ideology on me.

I realy love firefox and use the interated password manager. I'd like to use passkeys as well, but mozilla refuses to integrate this feature. Storing the passkey local on the device without having the possibility to sync and back it up is not an option.
Please integrate passkeys in firefox password manager!

I'm waiting for two years now, not giving up the hope, that someday firefox will integrate passkeys in the passwort store and sync via mozilla account.

I would love to only rely on Firefox Passwords for using my logins but I have to rely into a 3rd party app like Proton Pass for this. Hope they give us someday this.

I want Firefox to be compatible with synced passkeys as well. However, I think this feature should come alongside passwordless logins for Firefox Sync using FIDO2 Security Keys.

Passkeys are still a bit of a mess, especially because Big Techies are using them to lock users into their ecosystems and, because of that, there's no safe way to transfer the private keys between password managers yet, so I don't think this should be a priority unless Mozilla is willing to join the fray.

Firefox (on Raspberry Pi without a camera or touch screen), you need the passkey to confirm deletion and without synced option leaves a mess.
