Optionally disable RSS feed URL validation in Thunderbird

Hey Mozilla developers!

I was thinking it would be great if it was possible to optionally disable URL validation during RSS feed subscription.

My problem is that some of the RSS feed I would like to subscribe to are hidden behind a VPN. For instance, I would like to subscribe to the "failed builds" RSS feed of a certain project in Atlassian Bamboo, but this is only reachable inside of my company's VPN.

The URL validation seems to consider this URL as invalid. Is it maybe trying to contact the endpoint from the internet?
