Currently, ever single folder and sub-folder need to have the poll/push settings activated individually. Having a global "enable sync for all folders" or similar option, or alternatively having a switch with an "also sync sub-folders" option would be a huge QOL improvement.  If performance degradation for older7slower devices is a concern, such options can come with the necessary warnings (or even confirmation dialogues) about performance and RAM usage.

When speaking about sub-folders, I am making the assumption that proper sub-folder handling (as partially shown in the V12 Beta version) will be implemented, of course. The current stable version of the app doesn't recognize sub-folders at all.

There is a hidden preference available to do just that. It is currently not exposed in Settings because it may in some circumstances result in poor performance.

  1. In Thunderbird, go to Settings > Settings > General.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and click the Config Editor... button.
  3. Click Accept the Risk and Continue.
  4. In the search bar, type mail.server.default.check_all_folders_for_new
  5. Double-click the entry to change its value from false to true.

@wsm While I appreciate your comment for anyone having this issue with the desktop app, this idea is about the Android app. No option for a config editor there, I'm afraid.

You are quite right.  Thanks for correcting me.
