Status: New idea

In Firefox Android, I often have multiple tabs open. When I scroll up and down to navigate through the tabs, I sometimes accidentally close a tab. Probably because I was swiping diagonally up. I have a few seconds to click the undo button that pops up.

I've never intentionally used this gesture since I click the x button to close a tab.

Please add an option to disable the side swipe gesture.

I absolutely agree.

This is a top proposal, has been there for a year.

I guess Mozilla is more concerned with pivoting to AI than maintaining the software their revenue stream depends on.

I'd be interested to know how many people signed up for their mozilla forum accounts just to comment on this UX nightmare (I know that's the only reason I signed up).

Unintented swipe deletion of tabs is by far the most annoying thing in Firefox mobile. Gets me many times per day. Don't know if it's partially an android bug but would love to able to disable swipe deletion in Firefox!

Obviously I did. Anyway.

Just by looking the completed ideas below I believe the place is stagnant. The situation has become ridiculous by not being addressed.

I am with @Kill_the_swipe . If I were a code developer I'd want to know what I (or someone else in my team) had broken, and set a plan to fix it. At the very least I'd add a kill switch for every new "feature". I see no evidence of any interest in what's recorded here. (Not that I've searched much, I'm happy to be put right))

I can only conclude that Mozilla developers have little interest or pride in getting things right.  Perhaps the Moz organisation treats them badly? Do developers contribute here at all? Maybe if the complaints hit a million, they might be compelled to act.

OT: It's not just Firefox that Mozilla have broken,  the alert system for Thunderbird (Linux desktop) is so irritating I've disabled it.

I signed up for Mozilla forum account just to vote and comment on this annoying feature. Please add an option to disable this, because accidentally closing pages is so annoying that it motivates me to give up using Firefox Android. Especially since sometimes I don't manage to tap “Undo” before it disappears. Then I don't know what page I closed, nor do I have the option to restore it. Extremely frustrating.

Just add one option in the menu “disable side swipe gesture to close a tab” and problem solved.

+1, please add option to disable this terrible feature!
