At the moment, middle-click opens a link as a tab in the background. Perhaps we could configure it? Just as keyboard shortcuts can now be configured through about:keyboard.

Split view is a great new addition. I hope it continues to receive updates now it's been released.

I hate the split screen! Can i opt out or turn it off? Can I reverse version to before Split screen? Might move on to DuckDuckGo...

Strollin' around

Great suggestion! To build on this: Split View would be much more powerful if we had a dedicated Modifier Key + Click interaction, similar to how Ctrl + Click works for new tabs.

Specifically, I’d love to see:

* Alt + Left Click (on a link): Open the link directly into a Split View pane next to the current tab.
* Alt + Left Click (on a tab): Click an existing inactive tab to instantly trigger a split with the currently active one.

Currently, right-clicking to split a tab feels slow. If we could trigger Split View as naturally as we open new tabs with Ctrl + T or Ctrl + Click, it would drastically improve productivity and flow.

I suggest implementing the ability to customize these bindings in about:keyboard or a dedicated mouse configuration menu to make Firefox the ultimate tool for multitasking.

You’re right—middle-click behavior is usually fixed, but some browsers or extensions let you tweak it. It would be nice if it were as configurable as keyboard shortcuts. And yeah, split view is a strong feature. If they keep refining it (resizing, tab pairing, persistence), it could become a real productivity boost.

As far as I know, extensions can't interact with split view yet.
