open messages in Thunderbird with single click

Add option to open messages with single click when Select Messages is included in message list.  Just like Gmail and Zoho do.

I use the reading pane (f8) and find a single click on a message always opens it in the reading pane.

If you don't like the pane below,  use the menu view > Layout > Vertical view for it on the right ala outlook.

I second this suggestion.

It is especially useful when not using the reading pane, in which case, clicking an email once does nothing apart from highlighting the email. Which isn't very useful.

In fact, I don't think it makes sense to add this functionality when using the reading pane already, so I think only add it when not using the reading pane?
