New Tab + sign should be visually bigger and different than Close Tab x sign

Using Firefox in Windows environment.

It has happened many times that, I wanted to open a new tab by clicking on + sign at the end of last tab in the bar, and instead of opening a new tab, I am ending-up closing the last tab becuase there is no visual difference in last plus + sign and close x sign. More over, the new tab + sign stays hidden until mouse pointer is taken on it, which is another reason, why I am ending-up closing the last tab instead of opening a new tab.

Please fix it and make New Tab + sign always visible and distinct from Close Tab x sign.

I may have misunderstood, but they are different in size and even have a gap between them. New Tab button is also visible at all times

The plus sign you show in the screenshot above is completely missing from my view. in 2023. It used to be there (for years and years) and now it is gone. I googled it and found a workaround -  which is, I have to do Ctrl-T to open a new tab which is a pain. Where did it go and why? I can't be the only one experiencing this. This is making me, a loyal Firefox fan, want to switch browsers 😞
