Status: New idea

In a world where every single usable software UI copies apple and goes the way of bubbly cartoon circles, soft corners, etc, you had the chance to be different. It was a primary reason I use this browser. The UI now looks awful. I'm trying to work and learn online, not pretend I'm in some futuristic cartoon version of a factory control room. Please provide a setting to use the old UI.

I really like the new ui, and I hated the previous one; however, there should still be a choice.

Also, there are small bugs, but for me, it's still better than before.

BTW: For anyone wanting the old look, you can use the Proton theme; it is really easy to set up.

This is just bad! Whoever designed and APPROVED this, should be forbidden from work in app design for life. Even worse, Firefox team FORCES you to use this ugly Nova style WITHOUT option to disable it. Firefox sinking even more unfortunately.

No one asked for this mess.
Firefox for over 10 years fitted to what i wanted in a browser and now this latest 'update' is making everything bloated, clunky and 'sparkly'. Sidebars now take up far to much screen space and cant be reduced.

I use to love Firefox because it was easily modded to the users tastes. Now w'ere ning 'Mircosofted' into what our "betters" think is good for us.

I completely agree, please give us the option to change back to the normal good UI. Call it classic or something. Thank you.

I completely agree the UI is horrible. Please add the option to use normal UI, call it Classic UI or something. Thank you.

I like the new UI personally. Might be a bit of a 'take' but I think it's sleek, nice to navigate and feels minimal now I've tuned it with something other than the industry standard look.

Yeah, this is ridiculous. I should not be having to re-learn the visual language of my software on a yearly basis. All this does is discourage updates. I actually held back for dozens of major releases after the tabs-on-top became forced, because that was also a disruptive and absurd change that I eventually took weeks to acclimate to.

If this is some redo of the entire UI system and the old one is being deprecated, then fine, but there NEEDS to be a way to exactly reproduce the old look. We can't keep having this nonsense every time a new design trend comes up. First it was sharp squares and high-contrast lineless everything. Then rounded rectangles. Now it's bubbles and glass. Please let us just keep things the way we prefer.

If you also care about user control and a light UI, check out and support the proposal for Firefox on Android TV with pre-bundled uBlock Origin Lite to give us full control on Smart TVs as well!"https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/launch-firefox-for-android-tv-google-tv-with-pre-bundled-ublock...

I don't mind the new design that much. For me, far more important are speed, protection of sensitive information and normal loading and scrolling on the sites.

Please Stop doing things like this...  I don't like change pixels are square I don't want round things on my screen it hurts my eyes and lacks precision.  I don't have apple products and I don't want their style invading everything in my life.

People choose a product because they like how it is, when you constantly try to change it they will leave and look for alternatives that they like.

Suggestions!!!  People like choice, they do not like forced changes. If you want to offer new UI offer it as an optional customization that someone can choose, don't force it.

Mozilla, look at what windows is doing to MS products.  Look closely...  Don't copy them they are hated, people do not like the design language they are pushing in MS products we don't want it in our browser too.  If I wanted this look I would go to Chrome or Edge.  Stay unique stay what you are, you were cool and retro looking but with powerful customization and a snappy interface.  stay true to that and stop trying to copy the mega bois.

All of the preinstalled themes in the updated Firefox UI have gradients which is a major downgrade in terms of accessibility. The decrease in contrast between UI elements created a significant barrier for visually impaired people. In some parts the native UI with the "Default" theme drops as low as 1.9:1 contrast ratio between UI elements and background which is way below the WCAG 2.0 accessibility standard of 4.5:1. According to research on colour blindness as many as 1 in 12 people (exact ratio varies based on factors such as sex and ethnicity) suffer from some form of colour blindness. The default UI of a tool such as web browser shouldn't be visually hostile to up to 8% of its potential userbase.

Proposed solution: reintroduction of non-gradient bright and dark themes with high contrast with a prompt asking user if they would rather switch to them on the first browser startup after the update so that the user doesn't need to navigate visually inaccessible menus to do so.
